Carmal was admitted to practise in 2012 after completing a double degree in a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Psychology) at Flinders University.
Carmal commenced her career working as an Associate in the Federal Circuit Court of Australia, where she gained extensive exposure to complicated family law matters. In this role, Carmal developed a strong understanding of the judicial system and the litigation process. This has enabled Carmal to be a confident and experienced advocate for her clients going through litigation and the family law process.
Not only does Carmal have a greater perspective into the Court system, but her experience has also allowed her to empathetically connect with clients and understand the emotional and financial implications separation can cause. Carmal implemented this knowledge into her practice as a Solicitor, working in several boutique law firms specialising in the are of Family Law. Her Psychology degree has enabled her to understand the complexities of clients’ personal situations, including mental health issues, child development and family violence.
Carmal joined Douglas Hoskins Legal at the beginning of 2019. She practises primarily in the field of Family Law, assisting her clients with moth matrimonial property and parenting issues. Carmal has a particular interest in children’s matters and has an empathetic and driven approach to dispute resolution. Carmal strikes the ideal balance between providing emotional support for clients, whilst also fighting hard to achieve the best results possible.
Carmal also regularly prepares Wills, Enduring Powers of Attorney and Advanced Care Directives and assists in the administration of deceased estates.
